1. Add recaito to a medium stockpot and sauté over medium heat for 5 minutes. Add spices and stir for another 30 seconds before adding in the beans, water and bay leaves.
2. Season with salt and pepper. Bring mixture to a boil before reducing the heat to medium. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Remove the lid and let beans continue to simmer an additional 10 minutes or until thickened. Stir in fresh cilantro, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper and serve over cooked rice. Garnish with lime wedges and hot sauce if desired.
